Revolutionizing Land Records in Pakistan: E-Centers to Offer Comprehensive Solutions
In a significant move towards modernizing land management, Punjab’s Senior Member of the Board of Revenue (SMBR) Nabeel Javed announced the establishment of state-of-the-art E-Arzi Centers across the province. These centers aim to provide a seamless one-stop solution for land records, including the issuance of Fard, stamp papers, and payment of relevant fees.
The digitization of land records is a crucial step in addressing the longstanding inefficiencies and corruption associated with the traditional patwar system. The outdated system has been plagued with inaccuracies, making property transactions and tax collections cumbersome. By transitioning to a computerized system through the Cadastral Mapping Project, the government aims to enhance transparency, reduce corruption, and improve the efficiency of land management.

These E-Arzi Centers will leverage advanced technologies such as Geographic Information System (GIS), data warehouses, and web-based applications to streamline land record management. This initiative is expected to facilitate better decision-making, strategy planning, and productive modeling for land use.

The benefits of this digital transformation are manifold. It promises easier access to property rights and tenure information, reduced land litigation cases, improved tax collection mechanisms, and effective land conflict resolution. Additionally, the project will help in preventing record tampering, land grabbing, illegal constructions, and encroachments.
Moreover, the project is poised to significantly boost revenue generation for the government by providing accurate assessments of leased and rented properties. The Survey of Pakistan has already made substantial progress, completing 93% of the field surveys, geo-tagging, and digitization tasks.
The digitalization of land records will also benefit overseas Pakistanis by enabling them to verify land ownership details online, ensuring secure investments in their homeland. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to eradicating corruption and enhancing public service delivery.
Overall, the establishment of E-Arzi Centers marks a revolutionary step towards modernizing land records in Pakistan, promising a more transparent, efficient, and corruption-free system.
