Dastak Programme: Punjab’s Initiative to Deliver Civic Services at Doorsteps

The Punjab government’s “Dastak Programme” aims to revolutionize public service delivery by bringing essential civic services directly to citizens’ doorsteps. This initiative, launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, will utilize the “Maryam Ki Dastak” mobile app to facilitate a range of services, including the issuance of birth, death, and marriage certificates, domicile applications, and vehicle registrations. The app will be integrated with the Punjab Information Technology Board’s systems to streamline the process.

In the initial phase, the programme will roll out in Lahore, providing ten core services. Plans are underway to expand to other districts, with a target of reaching 65 different services across Punjab by the end of the year. This extension will not only enhance service accessibility but is also expected to generate over 50,000 job opportunities, primarily for delivery riders who will be trained and registered to provide these services​.

Citizens can access the services via the Dastak app or by contacting a dedicated helpline. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to leveraging technology for public convenience, aiming to reduce the need for visits to government offices and streamline bureaucratic processes​.
