Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Approves Online Property Transfer Service for Overseas Pakistanis
In a groundbreaking move to facilitate property transactions for Pakistanis living abroad, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the implementation of an online property transfer service. This initiative aims to provide a seamless and efficient way for Overseas Pakistanis to manage their property-related matters without the need to be physically present in Pakistan.
During a meeting focused on reforms in the Board of Revenue and the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA), CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of making property transactions transparent and accessible. The new service will include features such as e-filing, registration, mutation, and digital transfers, enabling overseas Pakistanis to handle their property affairs remotely.

The online property transfer service is expected to be rolled out in ten districts initially, with plans to extend the service to other regions. Additionally, the Punjab government is setting up land facilitation centers in 11 divisional headquarters by June 30. These centers will offer a one-stop solution for all land-related issues, further simplifying the process for citizens.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to digitize land records across the province. By December 2024, the land records of 5,798 Mauza will be made available online, alongside records from fifty cooperative housing societies. This digital transformation aims to reduce legal complications and ensure that property transactions are clear and secure.
The new service also includes measures to enhance transparency in the revenue system by assigning unique property numbers to each parcel of land and simplifying the ownership and land transfer process. These reforms are designed to protect the rights of property owners and streamline administrative procedures, making it easier for overseas Pakistanis to invest in their home country.
This move by the Punjab government is a significant step towards leveraging technology to improve governance and provide better services to the Pakistani diaspora. It reflects a commitment to modernizing administrative processes and supporting the economic contributions of Overseas Pakistanis.
