PCB Launches Gaddafi Stadium Upgrade Project for Champions Trophy 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is launching a major upgrade project for Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore as part of its preparations for hosting the Champions Trophy in 2025. The renovation plans aim to significantly enhance the infrastructure and viewing experience for spectators, inspired by the state-of-the-art facilities at the Dubai Cricket Stadium.

The project includes relocating the main building closer to the box seats, integrating hospitality boxes in the front, and expanding the enclosures on both sides. Additionally, the seating capacity in the Imran Khan and Fazal Mahmood enclosures will be increased, and new screens will be installed to provide unobstructed views of the matches​ (The News)​​​.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to be the chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony. The PCB has allocated Rs12.8 billion for upgrading the stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. The renovations are expected to be completed within six months, with the PCB hiring foreign consultants and designers to ensure world-class facilities​.

The upgrade project is crucial for Pakistan as it prepares to host the Champions Trophy, marking the return of the tournament after an eight-year hiatus. The competition is scheduled to take place from February to March next year, featuring teams from Pakistan, India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh​.
