CM Maryam Nawaz Approves Rs1370 Billion Development Plan
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has greenlit an ambitious development project for Lahore, approving an investment of Rs1370 billion. This comprehensive plan aims to overhaul the city’s infrastructure, with a focus on modernizing water supply and drainage systems, enhancing road connectivity, and upgrading public spaces with new street lights and improved parks.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to elevate Lahore to the status of a world-class city, reflecting Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for urban development. Significant components of the plan include the revamping of aged sewerage systems, the completion of major drainage pipelines, and the establishment of various public welfare facilities such as ‘Panahgah’ (shelter homes) to support the homeless and needy across the city. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on developing educational and health infrastructure, including a new Local Government Academy aimed at capacity building for civil servants, and making the Drug and Food Lab fully operational.

The development efforts also extend to the construction and rehabilitation of roads, the inauguration of a new Punjab Assembly building, and the implementation of advanced technology in civic services. CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of these projects, highlighting their potential to not only improve the quality of life for Lahore’s residents but also to create a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing urban environment.
These projects are being closely monitored by the government to ensure timely completion, with key officials from various departments, including health and transport, actively involved in the execution process. This substantial investment marks a significant step towards transforming Lahore into a modern metropolis that can compete with developed cities globally.
