UAE Group Expresses Interest in Outsourcing Karachi and Lahore Airports
An economic contribution of the aviation industry is the responsibility of determining the aspects through which the world’s economy can be affected through connectivity, tourism and trade. But like in operational inefficiencies and financial burdens, Pakistan’s aviation sector has been quite bogged down.
A UAE based consortium recently expressed interest in outsourcing the operations of Karachi and Lahore airports. This discussion has been sparked about what impact this could have for Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure. - Operational Efficiency and Investment: Specialized knowledge and efficiency which the public sector often doesn’t have are provided by private companies with experience in aviation management. With the involvement of UAE groups, it could make it better at managing resources, better at passenger services and increase the revenue of airport all.

The activities in this sector are cautiously optimist with the development. “This can bring in some technical expertise and some resources that the public sector may not have, especially when it is scaling to international standards,” says Ahmed Saeed, an aviation consultant.

If done right airport outsourcing can be a game changer for Pakistan’s connectivity, tourism and trade. Now it’s the stakeholders who have to form an agreement that maximizes these benefits and put Pakistan’s aviation sector on a bright path in future.
